In Leading Change, John P. Kotter introduces an eight step process for change that focuses not on management but on leadership. He charges leaders to establish a sense of Urgency, Create a guiding Coalition, Develop a Vision and Strategy, Communicate the change Vision, Empowers Employees for Broad-Based Action, Generate Short Term Wins, Consolidate Gains, and Anchor New Approaches in the Culture. Kotter casts a vision for both organizations and leaders of the future that endeavors to negate the effects of over-management and to lessen the impact under-leadership. Kotter proposes that leadership be driven down into the lower levels of an organization through adoption of a philosophy of lifelong learning at both the individual and organizational levels. This philosophy is intended to create leaders who are continually growing and improving themselves and their organizations.
I found Kotter’s approach to be both practical and well reasoned. His eight steps are well grounded and realistic. This is a well written book that has plenty of hands on advice that can be implemented immediately. This will remain a reference for leadership versus management and will undoubtedly become well dog-eared in the coming years.
I recommend you read Leading Change by John P. Kotter. His down to earth style helped make this an easy read and you and your organization will benefit from his advice.

Best Price Cheap The Enemy: A Reacher Novel (Jack Reacher) Discount Review Shop
With the Berlin Wall coming down in 1990, The Cold War in ending. There will be a downsizing within the military and some commanders want to be sure that their commands are not lessened.
Major Jack Reacher had suddenly been transferred to a new post and is the duty officer with the Military Police on New Year’s Eve. He’s notified that a two-star general has been found dead in a motel used for romantic lesions. When Reacher goes to the general’s home to notify the general’s wife, he finds that she has been murdered.
Reacher finds that the general was on his way to a meeting and that his briefcase, containing the meeting’s agenda, is missing. As he continues to investigate, he is ordered to refrain because it would only bring disgrace to the military.
Reacher and a young female officer who is assisting him, Lt. Summer, feel that it would be disloyal to the general and the general’s wife’s memory if they stop the investigation without finding out who was guilty. At the risk of their careers, they continue their investigation.
There is conflict with a Delta Force unit when one of their men report that Reacher beat up two civilians without provocation. Later, when the Delta Force sergeant is murdered, the men in his unit give Reacher seven days to find the killer or face their reprisal.
This is a page turner in the highest sense of the phrase. Reacher is one of the best characters in action adventure and his bravery and dedication are shown here as never before. Many readers wanted to know why Reacher left the military and this story tells the events that led up to his resignation from active duty.
The story itself has excellent action scenes and Reacher’s motives are properly explained and logical. It only took the first few pages before I was grabbed by the story’s events.

Best Price Cheap The Wisdom of Menopause: Creating Physical and Emotional Health and Healing During the Change, 2nd Edition Discount Review Shop
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It contains both accepted science about women’s bodies during menopausal changes–from skin to heart, and brain to bones–and a challenge to examine emotional components contributing to any ailments. I found the re-framing of menopause from an unwanted side-effect of getting old to a tremendous opportunity for growth extremely refreshing. The section on diet also addresses a much-overlooked component of health and disease. I forward to the next updated edition for Dr. Northrup’s take of recent developments (for example, the debate on mammogram frequency). In the meantime, if you crave an informed, personal, and open-minded primer on the changes of mid-life, this book will speak volumes to you.

Best Price Cheap Tales of the Jazz Age Discount Review Shop
This 1922 short story collection is a trip back in time through the eyes of this celebrated author. There are 11 stories here, of varying quality and I enjoyed reading them all and letting myself visit the time and a place and the culture that is now just a small blip in the annals of history. Some stories are set in the world of the moneyed, others are set in the world of fantasy and there are other that are just figments of the author’s imagination. I didn’t like all of these stories. As the saying goes, “when they were good they were very very good, and when they were bad they were horrid”, but I felt I got to know F. Scott Fitzgerald through these stories, see how his mind worked, and understand how he became so well known and was able to come to his full power in his novels.
His strongest stores were set in the real world, the young southern man who was smitten by a rich young woman, two recently released soldiers from the War in Europe who stumble upon some party-going socialites, a very funny story about a costume party where two men dress in a camel costume, and a sad story about a happy marriage which is spoiled by the husband’s illness.
I don’t like fantasy and found myself annoyed by these stories, even the one about the Curious Case of Benjamin Button which was recently made into a movie, or The Diamond as Big as the Ritz which was a fantasy of enormous wealth and cruelty. There were stories of unfulfilled dreams and real emotion which I liked. And others that were just stupid and silly and hard to follow.
Yes, I enjoyed this book, even the stories I didn’t like. Having a critical attitude towards something I am reading is not a bad thing. However, I was really annoyed at the plethora of typographical errors throughout the book. There is no excuse for that.

Best Price Cheap The Richest Man in Babylon Discount Review Shop
The Richest Man in BabylonI have read the book before making the purchase and therefore knew
the true value it possessed. The book is far more valuable than the monetary price that I paid for. Highly
recommend it to anyone who wants to take control of their personal finances. Furthermore, it should be a required
reading for high school and college students because, it presents sound fundamental and timeless principles on
money management and wealth creation. The book is easy and fun to read because of the format that follows
a story line, and is especially appropriate and timely for the “interesting” times that we live in.
